Marriage and Family Psychology and Counseling of the Chinese Psychological Society

Established on February 16, 2022, the Specialist Committee on Marriage and Family Psychology and Counseling is directed by professor Fang Xiaoyi, a renowned expert in marriage and family therapy in China. The committee comprises 46 members from 38 universities and medical institutions nationwide, including senior experts and influential young and middle-aged academic figures in the field.

The committee's primary goal is to unite researchers and practitioners engaged in marriage and family studies and therapy. Its key areas of focus include research in marriage and family psychology, clinical and counseling practices, professional training, and academic exchanges. The committee aims to drive innovation, dissemination, and development of theories and techniques in marriage and family therapy, advancing the specialization and socialization of marriage and family psychology and clinical practice in China. Ultimately, the committee seeks to contribute to the happiness of families, the well-being of the public, and the broader development of marriage and family psychology, fostering a harmonious society.

Key initiatives of the Marriage and Family Psychology and Counseling Specialist Committee encompass:
1. Keeping informed of industry trends, organizing national academic exchange conferences, promoting innovation and research in marriage and family therapy psychology, and facilitating the exchange and synthesis of academic experiences for sustainable industry development.
2. Promoting the socialization and application of academic achievements, conducting scientific outreach lectures to disseminate knowledge of marriage and family therapies, and enhancing public awareness of family health and the skills required for building happy families.
3. Strengthening innovation, research, and development, and the promotion of marriage and family therapy intervention techniques to elevate professional intervention capabilities.
4. Establishing a training platform for industry talents, cultivating a professional team of marriage and family therapy professionals, and enhancing service levels and professional capacities within the industry.
5. Establishing a platform for domestic and international exchanges, collaborating with relevant international professional organizations to promote global academic exchanges and contribute to the development of marriage and family psychology in China and beyond.
