Preparation of the Specialist Committee on School Bullying and Violence Prevention and Intervention was initiated in January 2020 and formally established in January 2021 in response to the urgent needs for effective prevention and intervention practices in schools in China. Professor Zhang Wenxin, the pioneer on school bullying and violence research in China, is the current director of the committee.

The committee is comprised of experts engaged in both basic and applied research on school bullying and violence. Currently with 46 members from 37 universities and research institutes across China, the committee includes senior experts as well as emerging academic leaders dedicated to research and prevention practices related to school bullying and violence.

The primary objectives of the committee are to foster a platform for communication and collaboration among researchers in the field, thereby facilitating multidisciplinary cooperation. The committee aims to address major societal needs by strengthening basic research on school bullying and violence and promoting the application of research findings. It seeks to cultivate talents in prevention and intervention practices and advance the implementation of scientifically grounded strategies. It also provides policy guidance and intellectual support to governmental and educational entities.

Key initiatives of the committee include:
