Geropsychology of the Chinese Psychological Society

Established in July 2014, the Specialist Committee on Geropsychology stands as China's pioneering research-oriented geropsychology organization. Initiated by principal investigator Han Buxin from the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the committee comprises 50 members from 35 universities, research institutions, medical establishments, and social service professional organizations spanning 18 provinces and municipalities.

Key objectives and activities of the Geropsychology Committee include:
1. Providing a robust academic exchange platform for geropsychologists nationwide and actively engaging in international academic exchanges.
2. Promoting scientific research on fundamental laws, key concepts, and theories related to psychogerontological development and aging. This includes theories on and factors influencing healthy aging, successful aging, and positive aging.
3. Encouraging scientific research on early diagnosis and intervention of abnormal aging, as well as strategies for promoting physical and mental health among the elderly.
4. Implementing scientific outreach activities on geriatric mental health and publishing related books.

The Geropsychology Committee holds a national academic conference every two years and conducts various seminars and training events throughout the year. During the Third Committee Meeting, the committee established specialized subcommittees focusing on “Positive Attitude about Aging," "Popularization of Geropsychology," "Geriatric Cognitive Intervention," "Geropsychology and Nursing," and “Specialized training of Geropsychology ” and organize various related seminars, collaborative research, and application services.
