Psychology of Special Occupations of the Chinese Psychological Society

Originally established in April 2004 as the Military Psychology Committee, the committee underwent a name change in 2023 and is now known as the Specialist Committee on Psychology of Special Occupations. With its secretary office attached to the Air Force Medical University, the committee comprises 49 military psychology experts and scholars from higher education institutions and military center hospitals throughout the army, as well as grassroots troops and civil psychology professionals, covering all major military theaters and branches.

Following the Central Military Commission’ instruction regarding the psychological characteristics of young officers and soldiers, the committee, under the guidance of CPS, unites researchers in military psychology nationwide. Its key activities focus on academic research, application and exchanges to promote the healthy development of military psychology. The committee is dedicated to the normalization and modernization of the military, contributing to national defense, security, and territorial integrity.

The committee conducts research on military psychology and promotes the practical application of research results. It serves in the psychological selection of military personnel, enhances the psychological health of military personnel, improves military operational performance, and bolster the psychological health of the entire military. It strengthens cooperation within domestic psychological organizations and collaborates with international experts. It actively participates academic exchanges of the International Society of Military Psychology. It publishes monographs on military psychology, disseminates knowledge within the military, and conduct psychological education at grassroots units. It strengthens the technical transformation of research achievements, develops user-friendly psychological tools for grassroots units, and assists in setting up psychological counseling rooms or workstations. It provides insights into the behavior and activities of soldiers in special military environments for military command departments. The committee offers psychological training methods tailored to different armed personnel and conducts research on combat psychology. It provides psychological selection and quality education basis for cadre management departments. It provides information for the army health department on the mental and psychological disorders and their protective measures. It provides insights into the effectiveness of human-machine research for military equipment departments
