Community Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society
The Specialist Committee on Community Psychology is a public welfare and academic organization composed of professionals engaged in basic and applied research in community psychology. Preparation of the committee started in October 2014 and was officially established in October 2015. The committee comprises 48 members from 42 colleges, universities, and scientific research institutes in China, stretching from senior experts to young and middle-aged academics in the field of community psychology.
The main purposes of the Specialist Committee on Community Psychology are to organize academic events, carry out international exchanges, organize research and studies within the discipline as well as interdisciplinary projects, undertake community psychology teaching, application, and training, organize and advocate community mental health services, and provide a psychological foundation for community development and harmony. The committee eventually aims to contribute to the prosperity of community psychology and the healthy development of scientific research in China.
The main responsibilities of the committee include:
1. Organize and carry out research regarding community psychology, evaluate and exchange theoretical and empirical research results of community psychology, and provide intellectual and technical support for community development and prosperity;
2. Organize a series of scientific outreach lectures in the community, conduct professional training in community psychology, and promote the application of community psychology in society;
3. Organize professional committee meetings and academic conferences on community psychology to prosper the development of the discipline;
4. Facilitate publication of Community Psychology Research journal to provide a platform for members to showcase their research achievements, publish academic books and popular science books on community psychology, and expand the social influence of community psychology;
5. Carry out academic exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and international community psychology to expand the academic impact of community psychology.
