Cultural Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society

The Specialist Committee on Cultural Psychology was initiated by over 20 renowned experts from various colleges, universities, and research institutes across China. It was approved to prepare for its establishment at the 12th Third Standing Council of the CPS on May 5, 2018, and was formally established at the 12th Seventh Standing Council of the CPS on April 25, 2019, with the approval of the CPS.

The purpose of the Committee is to promote Chinese cultural psychology in the context of globalization. Its mission is to connect and organize scholars domestically and internationally within fields related to cultural psychology. The committee aims to collectively advance the development of cultural psychology in China, contribute psychology research results under a Chinese cultural perspective to global human society development, and play a role in China's societal development and cultural construction in the new era. The primary scope and tasks include:

Facilitating and organizing cultural psychology research efforts both domestically and abroad to promote Chinese cultural psychology research and discipline construction. This involves fostering international understanding of Chinese cultural psychology, contributing to global cultural psychology research and development, and promoting the unique aspects of Chinese cultural psychology.
Regularly organizing academic conferences or summit forums on cultural psychology, inviting renowned scholars in and outside China. The committee aims to build a platform for cultural psychology exchanges, enhance cooperation between mainland scholars and those from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and international scholars in various cultural psychology fields. These include cross-cultural psychology, indigenous psychology, multicultural psychology, cultural neuroscience, and cultural change. The committee also conducts theoretical exchanges and practical explorations on common concerns, facilitating cultural exchanges and integration.
Strengthening connections with relevant government departments, establishing a think tank platform for cultural psychology experts, and providing advice and suggestions on issues related to cultural psychology, cultural security, and enhancing Chinese population’s cultural confidence.
Promoting the construction of China's cultural psychology community by organizing training and workshops for young scholars and postgraduates. Topics include cutting-edge theories of cultural psychology, research methods, policy practices, and overall scholarly training.
Collaborating with cultural psychology experts to advance the popularization of cultural psychology knowledge and the social dissemination of research results. This involves editing textbooks, publishing research, conducting public lectures, and organizing scientific outreaches.
