Sport and Exercise Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society
Established in 1979, Specialist Committee on Sport and Exercise Psychology is a division of Chinese Psychological Society. It is a public welfare and nonprofit academic organization comprising Chinese sport psychologists.
The committee unite Chinese sport psychologists, devoted to promoting research, practice, and development in sport and exercise psychology. Members of the Society include researchers, psychologists, educators, coaches, administrators, students, and athletes interested in sports psychology.
We exist to:
—encourage and promote the study of human behavior within the sport, physical activity, physical education, and health settings;
—facilitate the sharing of knowledge through newsletters, meetings, and a quadrennial congress;
—improve the quality of research and professional practice in sports psychology.
The Specialist Committee on Sport and Exercise Psychology jointly with Division of Sport Psychology of China Sport Science Society are collectively known as China Society of Sport Psychology. This partnership steers the healthy development of sport and exercise psychology in China and collaborate closely with international sport psychology organizations. Notably, Professor Gangyan Si from the Hong Kong Sports Institute and Wuhan Sports University served as the President of the International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP) from 2013–2017, while Professor Zhang Liwei of Beijing Sport University served as President of the Asian South-Pacific Association of Sport Psychology (ASPASP) from 2014–2018.
The committee routinely organizes academic activities, including the National Sport Psychology Academic Conference, Academic Conference on Physical Exercise and Mental Health, Forum on Psychological Training for Chinese Athletes in Olympic Games Years, Symposium on Psychological Counseling and Training Application in Competitive Sport, Symposium on Electrophysiology and Biofeedback Technology, and the Summer Seminar on Research Methods of Sport Science Series.
