General and Experimental Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society

The Specialist Committee on General and Experimental Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society (CPS), was established in 1980, approved by the Executive Council of the CPS in December 1979. With a history of 38 years, it is one of the earliest eight professional committees of the CPS. Throughout its history, the committee has been led by esteemed directors, including Prof. Jing Qicheng, Prof. Wang Resurrection, Prof. Peng Danling, Prof. Shen Deli, Prof. Zhu Ying, Prof. Wang Biao, and Prof. Zhou Xiaolin. The secretariat of the committee is affiliated with the School of Psychological and Cognitive Sciences at Peking University.

The S Specialist Committee on General and Experimental Psychology currently comprises 50 members representing 34 universities and research institutes across China. This assembly brings together the core expertise and strength in basic psychology teaching and research in the country.

The Specialist Committee on General and Experimental Psychology is dedicated to conducting academic exchange activities in basic psychology and its related fields. It aims to establish a platform for researchers in related fields both domestically and internationally, fostering discussions on the fundamental concepts and scientific research methods in psychology. The committee actively promotes exchanges and interactions across various subfields. Since its establishment, the committee has made significant contributions to the research and development and standardization of psychological instruments (especially during the period when psychology was just reestablished after the Cultural Revolution), the exchange of teaching experiences in general and experimental psychology, the discussion of the developmental trends of basic psychology, the nurturing of young psychologists, and the training of psychological research methods.

Responsibilities of the Committee on General and Experimental Psychology includes:

Organizing annual national academic conference and professional committee working meeting, facilitating in-depth discussions on crucial scientific issues and advancements in research methodologies within the field of basic psychology, and providing a platform and academic environment for the communication of cutting-edge research results;
Conducting nationwide training sessions for teachers focusing on courses in general psychology and experimental psychology, as well as workshops covering topics like experimental design, research methods, and thesis writing;  
Organizing the preparation of professional books in related fields, such as the Cognitive Neuroscience Book Series and the General Psychology section of the Encyclopedia of China.
