Positive Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society

The Specialist Committee on Positive Psychology received approval from the Executive Council in October 2017, and it was official established in August 2020. The primary objectives behind its inception are: firstly, recognizing that numerous psychology departments in major Chinese universities boast researchers actively involved in positive psychology studies, there is a recognized need for a communication platform among positive psychology scholars across diverse fields within China. Internationally, various journals and societies have successfully created such platforms for positive psychology researchers. Secondly, given the surge in positive psychology practitioners and the rapidly growing market demand, many researchers find themselves constrained by the lack of platforms, hindering their participation in social work even more than untrained charlatan psychologists. Therefore, the domestic psychology community urgently requires an academic platform to enhance the legitimacy of positive psychology, fostering communication between scientific research institutions, industry players, and the education sector.

The Positive Psychology Committee's primary responsibilities encompass:
1. Organizing events such as academic symposiums and forums on positive psychology to create a platform for academic researchers, fostering exchanges and communication within the positive psychology research community.
2. Standardizing guidelines related to positive psychology industries and facilitating effective communication between positive psychology research academia, industry stakeholders, and educators.
3. Initiating training programs to elevate the standards of positive psychology practitioners.
4. Promoting publicity and public welfare initiatives in the field of Positive Psychology.
5. Facilitating international exchanges in positive psychology research.

The committee's activities include organizing the annual committee meeting, co-organizing the biennial China International Positive Psychology Conference, participating in the World Alliance for Positive Education to advance positive education in China, and fostering integration between industry, academia, and research in Positive Psychology.
