Medical Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society
Established in November 1979, Specialist Committee on the Medical Psychology comprises 50 professionals from backgrounds including colleges, universities, medical schools, general hospitals, and scientific research organizations. The committee plays a critical role in both clinical and scientific research within the fields of medical psychology and psychosomatic medicine. The administrative office is located within the Department of Medical Psychology at the Health Science Center, Peking University.
The committee aims to actively foster the nationwide development of medical psychology. Its goals include enhancing its organizational structure, leading to construct the discipline of medical psychology, editing and publishing teaching materials and monographs in medical psychology, as well as cultivating professional academic personnel.
Every two years, the committee organizes a national academic conference in the field of medical psychology, alongside hosting symposiums, training lectures, and scientific outreach events throughout the year. Collaborating with higher education institutions, hospitals, research institutes, and other organizations, the committee seeks to bridge academic research and clinical practice. Its focus includes exploring the impact of psychosocial factors on health and diseases, understanding the mechanisms and laws of their action. Moreover, it involves applying psychological theories and methods to study the role of psychological factors in disease occurrence, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention.
