Clinical and Counseling Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society
The preparation of the Specialist Committee on Clinical and Counseling Psychology initiated in 1997, and formally established in 2001. The committee gained official approval from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China in 2004. Throughout its journey, esteemed experts in clinical and counseling psychology such as Zheng Richang, Qian Mingyi, Fan Fuming, and Jiang Guangrong have served as directors.
The Committee's primary objective is to unite professionals dedicated to clinical and counseling psychology, fostering the healthy development of these fields in China. Their key responsibilities encompass organizing national professional conferences to advance research, encouraging the exchange of academic experiences, offering guidance on professional aspects like training, supervision, and ethical standards in psychotherapy and counseling, providing advice to professionals and relevant organizations, and collaborating with international professional counterparts for global academic exchanges.
Main Responsibilities of the Committee:
1. Organizing National Conferences: These conferences serve as platforms for the promotion of research in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, facilitating the exchange of academic experiences.
2. Guidance on Professional Work: The Committee provides essential guidance on various professional aspects, including training, supervision, and maintaining ethical standards in psychotherapy and counseling.
3. Provision of Professional Advice: The Committee offers advice to professionals, relevant organizations, and government departments.
4. International Collaboration: By partnering with international professional organizations, the Committee actively promotes global academic exchanges and contributes to the development of clinical and counseling psychology nationally and globally.
