Economic Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society
The Specialist Committee on Economic Psychology, approved for establishment in July 2018 and formally instituted in July 2019, is currently chaired by its founding director, Professor Xin Ziqiang.
The committee comprises professionals specializing in economic psychology or the intersection of economics and psychology, with 42 members from nearly 30 universities and research institutions across China, all of whom are active senior experts and young leading scholars in the field of economic psychology.
Economic psychology seeks to understand the psychological mechanisms underlying economic behavior and the impact of economic events on the human mind, focusing not only on exploring the general economic psychology and behavioral patterns of humans, but also on answering practical questions related to the development of China's economy and society. The purpose of the Economic Psychology Professional Committee is to gather, unite, and organize scholars in related fields nationwide and worldwide, by actively carrying out academic exchange activities, advancing theoretical construction and innovation, facilitating the output of high-level academic achievements, and promoting discipline construction and professional talent cultivation.
(1) Build an academic platform to gather research talents across the country who are dedicated to the research of economic psychology, promote academic exchanges and cooperation in this field, and jointly promote the construction of China's independent knowledge system of economic psychology.
(2) Regularly host academic conferences, working meetings, and specialized seminars to expand academic connections, both domestically and internationally. This initiative aims to enhance the influence of the discipline and the committee.
(3) Organize research and teaching training programs on economic psychology for young scholars. Conduct scientific outreach activities to disseminate knowledge of economic psychology to the public and relevant sectors.
(4) Establish and improve the teaching and research system of economic psychology tailored to the Chinese context. Contribute to the development of teaching materials, case banks, and assist institutions in constructing undergraduate and postgraduate programs in economic psychology.
(5) Offer consulting services to government departments, enterprises, and other organizations, contributing to the practical application and transformation of research findings.
