The 2022 China-Japan-Korea Tri-National Psychology Forum was successfully held

To enhance exchanges, mutual learning and academic integration among the psychological societies of China, Japan, and South Korea, establish a trilateral cooperative research mechanism, and elevate the influence of Asian psychological research globally, the three countries' psychological societies agreed in 2011 to organize a Tri-National Psychology Forum. This Forum rotates between China, Japan, and South Korea, comprising a Tri-National Academic Symposium and a Tri-National Society Leaders Roundtable. The Ninth Tri-National Psychology Forum is hosted by the Chinese Psychological Society (CPS) and was conducted online on December 3, 2022, under the theme "Jump-start Psychological Research/Practice with Mobile/Online Technology during COVID-19."

December 3rd, starting at 1 PM, the Forum initiated in the form of an online meeting. The first segment of the Forum comprised a Tri-National Psychology Symposium, led by Professor Yan Chaogan, Deputy Director of the Working Committee on International Academic Exchange of the CPS, in collaboration with Associate Professor Zhang Mingxia, Professor Matia Okubo, and Professor Hyang Sook Kim, Foreign Affairs Secretaries of the China-Japan-Korea Tri-National Psychology Society. Following the opening address by Professor Liu Xun, Director of the Committee of International Academic Exchange of the CPS, the tripartite presenters delivered talks on themes including the utilization of psychology experimental platforms amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, internet-based psychological intervention and treatment, and mental health amidst the pandemic. The second segment of the forum consisted of a Tri-National Society Leaders Roundtable, facilitated by Professor Liu Xun. Professor Su Yanjie, President-elect of the CPS, inaugurated the roundtable with an opening speech, paving the way for a insightful discussion among the official representatives of the three nations on the potential of internet platforms in psychological research, intervention, and treatment amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 China-Japan-Korea Tri-National Psychology Symposium has significantly boosted mutual understanding and collaboration among psychologists from the three countries, facilitating the exchange of insights in research endeavors. Moreover, the Symposium has served as a timely response to the opportunities and challenges presented by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to the field of psychology. It is poised to further deepen and broaden future exchanges and cooperation among the psychology communities of China, Japan, and Korea. As a concluding recommendation, the Symposium proposed that the upcoming tri-national symposium, to be hosted by the KPA, should focus on exploring the enduring psychological ramifications of social isolation induced by the pandemic, particularly on the cognitive, emotional, and social development of children and adolescents.
